Global environmental pollution from persistant and dangerous chemicals is a serious problem. While some modern synthetic chemicals are known or suspected of being carcinogens (having the ability to cause cancer) many more are not yet tested for their long-term effects. Other chemicals such as atrazine acts as endocrine disrupter.
Professor Tyrone Hayes and his research into the effects of atrazine on frogs created a controversy between himself and the manufacturer of the chemical, Syngenta.
By working together we need to bring pressure to bear on chemical companies, regulators and governments to protect our environment, biodiversity and human health.
